Tables

The Table menu (menu bar, toolbar icon, and table right-click all show the same one) covers inserting a table, then editing it cell by cell, row by row, or column by column — including a proper clipboard for whole rows and columns, not just single cells.

Inserting a table

The Table entry always works, even outside an existing table — hovering it opens a hover-to-size grid picker (defaults to "0×0" until you move over it) that inserts a table at the current cursor position.

Cell

ItemWhat it does
Cell properties…Horizontal/vertical align, border width/color, background color — applied to the whole selection if multiple cells are selected.
Merge cellsMerges a multi-cell drag-selection into one cell, concatenating their content.
Split cellReverses a merge on the current cell.

Row

ItemWhat it does
Insert row before / afterAdds an empty row relative to the current one.
Delete rowRemoves the current row (or the whole table if it's the last one).
Row properties…Height, border width/color, background color for the row.
Cut / Copy rowPuts the current row on a one-slot row clipboard, removing it on cut.
Paste row before / afterInserts the clipboard row relative to the current one. Disabled until something's been cut or copied.

Column

Same shape as Row, one column at a time: Insert column before/after, Delete column, Cut/Copy column, Paste column before/after.

Note: pasting a column repeats its last cell for any extra rows the target table has beyond what was copied, so pasting into a taller table doesn't leave gaps.

Table properties & deletion

Table properties… covers width/height, cell spacing/padding, border width, caption, and alignment. Delete table removes the whole table. Both — along with every Cell/Row/Column action — are disabled while the cursor isn't inside a table; the Table insert entry stays available regardless.
